The one thing you will realise about Vietnam is that there is a dogged determination to improve the country and its economy. The Vietnamese make no secret of their desire to grow their economy so that the gross GDP per capita is on a par with western economies. There is an intense program underway and many expats work in Vietnam, taking advantage of the high wages being offered.
As a holiday destination, Vietnam has much to offer. It's two main cities, Hanoi and Saigon (Ho Chi Min City) are very different types of cities. Hanoi in the north is a busy, chaotic city that works hard. Saigon is much the same though it has a softer, gentler edge to it with more impressive architecture.
There are some nice beaches in Vietnam that provide an ideal spot in the warm Vietnamese summers. There is also the world famous Halong Bay - referred to as one of the modern wonders of the world. When you plan your trip to Vietnam, you really must include Halong Bay.
